Head Peace is hip hop pioneer Niki “Awandee” Tsappos first full format stage production as a choreographer. This work centers on her love and appreciation for dance as a language and tool for self expression and connectivity. Through her foundation in various hiphop dance practices, freestyle and improvisation we enter a afrofuturistic universe. Through dancing conversations, this duet welcomes the audience into a meditative headspace where individual freedom and peace of mind is in focus. The work emphasizes the practice of listening to the part of us that “always knows” and letting that voice guide us. This opens up to a dreamy and intimate experience where grooves and rhythm carries the spectator through a journey that dissolves the border of inner and outer world.
